Fast Phobia Cure

This requires two people, so you’ll need the help of a friend if you wish to tackle your own phobia (or find someone with a phobia if you just want to try it out!). The person with the phobia sits in front of the helper, facing them. This is explained from the helpers viewpoint.

1)Ask them to imagine (preferably with closed eyes though not essential) an instance of the phobia that is fairly powerful.

2)Watch their expression until it clearly shows that the person has successfully recaptured the incident.

3)Touch the person firmly (not hard) on the right shoulder or knee, for just long enough to register (about a second)

4)Tell them to open their eyes and clear their thoughts, coming back to the present.

5)Now tell them to imagine an instance of pure pleasure and delight.

6)When their expression shows they have done that touch their left shoulder (or knee - whichever you used before).

7)Tell them to open their eyes and clear their thoughts, coming back to the present.

8)Ask them to close their eyes and then fire (touch) the first anchor (the right-hand one) and continue to hold it. You should see the effect of the phobia recall quickly and clearly.

9)Fire (touch) the left-hand anchor (still holding the right-hand one) and you should be rewarded with a puzzled or confused expression.

10)Remove the right-hand anchor first, immediately followed by the left-hand one. This should be swift, but it is important that the phobia anchor is removed first.

You can now ask the person how they feel about their phobia, and a typical response is that it’s “not the same”, you can even trigger the phobia anchor again if you like to see what sort of response you get - it should be fairly neutral, though if you discover that you haven’t completely cured them you can repeat the whole process again but with a different pleasure image.
